Course Description

This workshop will explore the application of EMDR's eight-phase model for high-acuity clients in time-limited settings. Participants will gain practical strategies for adapting each phase to meet the unique needs of clients in crisis, with a focus on maximizing therapeutic impact within brief treatment windows. Special attention will be given to the importance of establishing a strong foundation, utilizing resourcing techniques, and preparing dysregulated clients for trauma processing. Attendees will leave with concrete tools to enhance client stabilization, improve treatment efficiency, and navigate challenges inherent to short-term care.

Intended Audience

Clinicians (psychologists, counselors, social workers, etc.). This course is designed for and accredited for mental health clinicians who have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training.

Identify at least two modifications to the eight phases of EMDR therapy when working with high acuity clients in short term care settings. 

Demonstrate at least one new resource outside of the standard resources taught in EMDR Basic Training to stabilize dysregulated clients during the preparation phase of EMDR in time-limited settings. 

Recognize a client's readiness to move into Phase 3 of EMDR and identify any blocking beliefs that need to be targeted in short-term care settings. 

Meet the Instructor

Olivia Lynch, LPC

Olivia Lynch, LPC, is an EMDRIA-Approved Trainer, Consultant, and Certified EMDR Therapist with extensive experience in implementing EMDR in high-acuity settings. As the National Director of EMDR Services at a national program, she developed and oversees an in-house EMDR training and consultation program, supporting over 200clinicians in residential and outpatient care. Olivia led the development of an EMDR group curriculum to enhance trauma treatment and optimize the benefits for clients in time limited settings. She specializes in adapting EMDR for short-term treatment, high acuity clients, and complex trauma, with a focus on stabilization and crisis intervention. She has presented nationally on EMDR’s practical applications in structured care settings and is committed to expanding access to EMDR Therapy, including through Trauma Recovery Networks (TRN) and disaster response initiatives.

Certificates are awarded online after completion of the workshop. To receive your EMDRIA credits complete the entire course and complete the post-test, then print your certificate. CE Credits are not available for this course.
