Course Description

While the original EMDR text speaks to the importance of the body in the AIP and EMDR processing, clinicians are often confused about the role of the body in EMDR. We can easily address these challenges by giving EMDR clinicians knowledge about somatic theories, guidance on using the body to inform clinical decision making, and practical tools to use in their EMDR practice. The target audience for this presentation is an EMDR clinician who has an adequate understanding of the 8 Phases and 3 prongs of EMDR therapy, as this presentation will assist EMDR clinicians incorporate somatic interventions with EMDR.

Intended Audience

Clinicians (psychologists, counselors, social workers, etc.). This course is designed for and accredited for mental health clinicians who have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training.

Meet the Instructor

Elizabeth “Liz” Downey, LCSW, MBA

Liz Downey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in the Denver, Colorado area. Liz currently works in private practice specializing in working with clients with complex trauma, co-occurring disorders, and dissociation. Prior to private practice, Liz spent the first fifteen years of her career working in clinical and supervisory roles in nonprofit organizations specializing in human trafficking, intimate partner violence, justice-involved clients, clients with severe persistent mental illness, and those with addictions. Liz is a facilitator for HAP basic training and is a member of the Denver TRN.

How to obtain your credits/certificates

Certificates are awarded online after completion of the workshop. To receive your EMDRIA credits complete the entire course and complete the post-test, then print your certificate.
